Fashion Forward Dubai Season 6: Day 1


Spring/ Summer 2016 of the highly anticipated Fashion Forward Dubai, kicked off on October 22-2015 at the Madinat Jumeirah, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Old favorites and new designers return to Season Six to display their latest collection, with 21 runway shows and 9 presentation shows over the four day event which runs from October 22nd -25th.  

Day 1 Highlights:

The fashion movement set sail on Day 1 with the showcase brunch, as fashion enthusiasts, designers and celebrity guests, made the rounds and reveled in the showcase, a curated selection of top regional jewelry and accessory designers.

Catwalk: Thursday 22nd October 


Starch foundation, the non profit Organization that helps Lebanese emerging designers, was selected as the first Catwalk show for this season. Designers Joe Arida presented his brand La Terre Est Folle, Nour Najem presented her eponymous label and Mira Hayek presented her contemporary ready to wear brand.

Nafsika Skourti hailing from Jordan displayed her first catwalk show at FFWD. Her collection represents a sense of freedom, revolution, empowerment and the war for justice.  Her line  build around an eclectic use of custom developed fabric with subtle design, featured silks and organic camo prints in earthy tones.

The Uptown girls hit the catwalk with Emirati designer Zareena Yousif . Her first ever ready to wear collection 'Zaroon by Zareena' named after the single, working and Uptown girls of the 60's debuted at Fashion Forward this season. The collection, inspired by the era, portrays retro, stylish, chic and fun look. The collection includes swirling patterns, tie and dye designs, bold and bright colors and psychedelic designs. The music is upbeat, the models enter with dramatic lighting paired with boots, stiletto heels, goggles, long hair and short skirts, all synonymous of the era.  The sentiments of the designer is reflected in the props and setting, portraying amazing storytelling and a brilliant explosion of creativity.

Creating fashion with a soul is what Hussein Bazaza is known for. His line reflects a different story, exuberating personal emotion. With a myriad of accolades under his belt, ‘The Middle East Fashion Awards 2015’ is his latest award.
