The most magical time of the year is upon us. The city is going to be studded with festive pop-up markets, concerts, kids activities and spectaculars. However, there is always someone whining of how the festive season can also be the most expensive season with all the merry making and the giftings. So I've complied some festivity you can enjoy for free with the entire family this Christmas 2018.

Christmas market : Reform Social and Grill, Lakes club, Emirates Hills.

Date : December 1st , noon-6 pm

What to expect : Free entry for all with Santa making and appearance, tricks by a festive magician and opportunity for kids to write a letter to Santa. You can also browse for festive gifts at the pop up's.

Christmas tree Lighting at : The Irish village , Garhoud.

Date : December 3rd , 7-10 pm

What to expect : Christmas mince pies, mulled grapes and choir singing carols.

Christmas tree Lighting at : Fairmont The Palm Lobby

Date : December 5th , 5-7 pm

What to expect : Tree lighting accompanied by festive bites and beverages.

Christmas tree Lighting at : Steigenberger Hotel

Date : December 5th , 6-8 pm

What to expect : Performance by German International School choir. Festive movie screening. Mulled wine, eggnog and even a Santa visit is on the cards.

Christmas tree Lighting at : West 14, The Palm

Date : December 7th , 6:30 pm onwards

What to expect : Christmas tree lighting complete with carols and mince pie. Santa appearance followed by a festive movie screening at this beach side venue.

Christmas tree Lighting at : Sheraton Mall of the Emirates

Date : December 7th , 6:30 pm onwards

What to expect : 15 ft Christmas tree lighting surrounded by large ginger bread houses. Festive treats for kids, warm mulled wine, hot coco and an invitation to check the Christmas market. Carols and Santa visit is also part and parcel of the festivities.
