We checked out the new artisanal restaurant 'SLAB' at La Mer, to experience first hand and decide if the restaurant lives up to all the hype and buzz that has been created by the foodie community in the city.
Ambiance : Contemporary-chic interiors with pleasant hues of grey's and whites, that complement the vibrant plates perfectly, making it an insta-worthy space. With an option to dine outdoors on the patio or refreshing cool space indoor, this makes for great a dining venue to hang with friends or brekkie with your favorite read. We also love the open kitchen and counter dining, offering uninterrupted views of food being prepared (this would be ideal for some of us who love to graze at chefs in their element)
Food/Service: SLAB short for sandwich Lab, offers much more than sandwiches and celebrates social eatery by offering a concise menu with sprinkles of global influence. Although the menu is concise, it promises something for all and offers an interesting interpretation of dishes. The brain child of a foodie at heart, Fadi Al-Said and kitchen helmed by chef Omar Rodriguez, this laid back dining spot offers superbly presented gourmet plates prepared by sourcing the freshest ingredients that have been hand picked to craft flavorful bites. Service is pleasant and prompt.
Signet Ring seals - You can score one of the city's best versions of Shakshuka here (Priced at AED50). With perfectly poached eggs in creamy tomato and herb sauce , sweetness from onions/peppers all packing tons of flavor and texture into one dish. An order comes with toasted bread making for a filling meal whenever you decide to drop by. For dessert the Dark Chocolate Bar (AED 34) with salted caramel and sour dough ice cream is one not to be missed. On a hot summer day the 'Pina smash cocktail' has all the right ingredients to offer you a glass full of refreshing with some spunk.
Laid back vibes, good food and affordable pricing is the selling point here. Slab is one of the best additions to La Mer and lives up to (rather supersedes ) every hype surrounding it.
