Located off Sheik Zayed road on Al Thanya street which houses Jones the grocer and Bystro, you will find a new arrival ‘Tub of Butter’. We visited this space to check if this tenderfoot has something unique that more than deserves the city's business and if it has the ability to leave the city folks in awe. This is a homegrown concept serving up Mediterranean dishes, through breakfast, lunch and dinner. They are open 7am to 11pm.
On arrival we find ourselves in a spacious setting boasting of an industrial style interior with modern artwork. The entrance is marked by a retail space, including gourmet products and cookbooks for sale. It also holds a deli counters which reminds us of the space at 'Pantry Cafe’.
We sampled a few highlights from their menu. The food was to our liking; tasty, fresh and presented immaculately. The stand outs were the portobello mushroom burger, chicken and mushroom quiche and their coffees served with an artwork of Mono Liza and Bob Marley. The servers were efficient and friendly. However, the space lacks soul to be described as a gem in the city.
There is one thing i discovered here - this place is particularly wonderful because it is designed with junior diners in mind. They have a children's area which will keep the munchkins busy drawing, reading and playing, returning to the table only for a quick bite of pizza. This is a good enough reason to lure me back - Finally a promising space where mommies can enjoy a relaxing coffee morning and can savor a good meal in peace while the kids are entertained.
